THE ORPHAN, THE POET LYRICS
"Black & White Photography"
Baby boy won’t you grow up so tall? Baby boy won’t you grow up so strong? Pick you up on my shoulders and walk down the hall, show you pictures in a frame of myself when I was small. Prodigal by design, we cannot sleep ‘cause the cold creeps inside and into our sheets. Be calm son be patient and understand why, turn your head to the birds on a wing passing by. ‘Cause they’ll come home son, when the air pulls them in. When they’re cold to the bone they will fly away home. Terrible things have come and stolen my breath from my lungs and a whisper is all I have left. Your brothers and sisters have spread their wings wide to beg the air to carry them where the buildings scrape the sky. Don’t you go casting briars and thorns from your fingers to watch them all grow. I know now as dusk comes we’ll never leave to reap all the seeds that we’ve sown. Just know that you are my perfections achieved and you’ll always be.
